BBC World's Talking Movies, 4th – 8th December 2002

This week on Talking Movies...

Billy Crystal and Robert De Niro reprise their roles as a psychiatrist and mobster with plenty of problems in Analyze That. It remains to be seen if this sequel generates more laughs and box office bucks than the original hit. Tom Brook talks to Crystal and De Niro about their brand of comedic chemistry.

Empire is the new drug dealing drama starring John Leguizamo as a South Bronx gangster who teams up with a Wall Street con artist. The film, produced by Arenas Entertainment, a new division of Universal dedicated to Latino films, aspires for box office success like its independent Latino themed counterparts: Y Tu Mama Tambien and Real Women Have Curves. Find out more from Laura Metzger, who talks to Leguizamo and Empire director Franc Reyes about the increasing demand for Latino films.

• In the 10th big screen instalment of Star Trek - the franchise that won't die - The Next Generation Crew, led by Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) faces the Romulans in Star Trek: Nemesis. Find out from Erik Jackson, who talks to Stewart, if the film is worth the "trek" to theatres.

• Director Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney head to space with their most recent collaboration, the sci-fi film Solaris. Will audiences be blown away or baffled by the romantic drama that is reminiscent of Kubrick's space saga 2001: A Space Odessy? Laura Metzger reports.

• Singer/actress Jennifer Lopez dons a maid's uniform and woos a ritzy politician played by Ralph Fiennes in the romantic comedy Maid in Manhattan. Will this be J. Lo's Pretty Woman? Get the scoop from Manoush Zomorodi, who talks to J. Lo and the film's director Wayne Wang.

Travel with 'CNN' Business Traveller'

'CNN Business Traveller' is a unique travel show dedicated to cover every aspect of the transitory lifestyle of business travellers. Hosted by CNN's business news anchor Richard Quest, the half -hour monthly program delves into the habits and issues for those whose jobs dictate a travelling existence.
More than just a list of handy hints about best airline deals and sophisticated but unsatisfactory city guides. 'CNN Business Traveller' explores a host of different themes including how to develop one's career when constantly on the move, how to balance one's family life when so little time is spent with them, what sort of health issues one can expect to enounter when surviving on a diet of airline food, how to operate effectively in a 'Culturally neutral' manner and finding cost-effective travel options.
The monthly half-hor show also features a number of regular segments. 'Road Test' is the gadget segment where contributors consumer test some of the latest technology to find out whether it helps of hinders the regular traveller. And some top CEO's, professional athletes and business gurus are enlisted to show us a typical day in their hectic schedules in 'On The Road With.... " Finally, "Getting Away' attempts to give useful information and the opportunity for e-mail feedback.

The program airs at 19:00 every second Sunday of the month and is then repeated on the following Thursday at 19:00 and Saturday at 18:00.

Along with the ups and downs of the global financial markets, CNN's flagship business evening news program BIZ Asia also offers in-depth analysis and reports on current affairs affecting Asia and around the world. Broadcast live from CNN's Asian news center in Hong Kong, the half hour program now airs two weekly segments, THE BUSINESS OF FILM and CHALLENGING CEO'S , providing its international viewers with increased coverage on different aspects of business in the region.
Airing every Friday, THE BUSINESS OF FILLM takes a close look at the film industry in Asia, examining how Asia has produced box office hits that have dominated over Hollywood's homegrown productions. With the traditional leaders such as Hong Kong and India's Bollywood continuing to grow and productions from Australia, South Korea, Japan and Thailand flourishing, the Asia Pacific has given traditional filmmakers a run for their money. In November 2001, what was initially planned as a peaceful surrender of more than 400 Taliban soldiers became anything but, as a violent uprising erupted in a prison near the northern Afghan city of Mazar-e-Sharif.
CNN Perspectives : 'House of War : Uprising at Mazar-e-Sharif' allows viewrs to witness the dramatic events as they unfold. Firsthand accounts and rare footage piece together an extraordinary chronology of this major battle, featuring all the key players in the War on Terror : the Taliban, A1 Qaeda, British and U.S. Special forces, the CIA, media, the Northern Alliance and one of Afghanistan's powerful warlords.
Airing on CNN International on 23 November, this one-hour special documentary depicts the uprising that both claimed the life of CIA operative Miake Spann, the first American to die in Operation Enduring Freedom, and led to the discovery of John Walker Lindh, the "American Taliban."
Produced by Diverse Productions for Channel Four and CNN, 'House of War : Uprising at Mazar-e-Sharif' is the inside story of the prisoner uprising at the stone garrison of Qala-i-Jangi and the amazing events and discoveries that followed it.
