HARD RAIN

Filmed in the tradition of heist movies like "The Great Train Robbery". Hard Rain is certainly not your run-of-the-mill disaster flicks. Produced by Mark Gordon (Speed) and directed by Mikael Salomon (twice nominated for Academy Awards for visual effects in Backdraft and cinematography for Tha Abyss), Hard Rain is in fact, the brainchild of screenwriter Graham Yost after having watched news coverage of the disastrous Mississippi River floods of 1993. Tom (Slater) is a young man who has taken a job along side his Uncle Charlie (Edward Asner of the 60s TV hit The Mary Tyler Moore Show), a veteran of the money delivery business. Come hell or high water, Tom is determined to safely deliver the $3 million dollars. Jim (3-time Oscar nomiinee Freeman, The Shewshank redemption, Dreamcatcher) is the career thief who's growing weary of the criminal life. He seizes on the flood as his last chance to pull off one last daring job which will bag him enough cash to retire to a tropical island forever. Then, there is the town sheriff (Randy Quaid) who has plans of his own. What follows is a desperate chase amid the rising waters, pitting the forces of nature against the forces of human nature.
