May 2003 will se the launch of India's first ever-international talent search show "GROOVES" - on Sahara TV. "GROOVES" plans to kick off n India covering over 40 cities leading to 28 zonal preliminaries and four zonal finals followed by the All India Championship. Simultaneously the international auditions / finals will be conducted in several countries post which the respective country champions will be chosen. The various country champions will converge in India for the world championship organized in conjunction with the Indian Song & Dance Awards. The countrywide auditions in over 40 cities are scheduled during the next few weeks.

Conceived, hosted and directed by celebrity VJ - Jaaved Jaaferi, "GROOVES" with its novel concept will set a trend, cutting across global barriers. "This is the first time that an international talent search programme of this magnitude is being launched in the country. Grooves will prove to be a huge platform for amateur talent all over the country and the world. It will steer the way for young singers and dancers to achieve their artistic goals, " said Jaaved Jaaferi.

Auditions will be held in over 40 cities in India with 28 zonal preliminaries and 4 zonal finals followed by an All India Championship. International auditions will be held in U.K, US, Canada, South Africa, UAE, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia and Mauritius prior to the World Championship in India.
The Competition will be held in the following categories for dance - Free style solo (12yrs and below), Free style solo ( 13-21) and Free style group (21 and below) ; for singing - Free style solo (12 and below) and Free style solo (13-21).

Participants will be judged on the basis of their customers, choreography, rhythm, grace, artistic interpretation and presentation for the dance competition. The parameters for singing competition will be voice quality, expressions, sur, taal, clarity and pronunciation. A jury consisting of world-renowned personalities will choose winners in 5 categories.

Dairo is a very typical, traditional, folk music based concept, which is televised here for presenting the new generation with its valuable heritage. Rural performances, folk instruments, lyrics based on folk-culture interwoven with philosophy & stories glorifying the past local heroes etc form the various facets of the musical environment of Dairo. In good olden days when mass media like films and television did not exist, the main recreation at the end of a day’s toil was far villagers to gather under the neem tree outside the village and sing the local folk songs with the conventional instruments and within the indigenous Indian classical music format.

TA NA REE REE
This is a musical show that has an element of entertainment besides competition, element of ethnicity besides splendor, element of fun besides serious reflection of classical Hindustani music. The show that not only digs out hidden talents but also unearths hidden performers of our times.
The name has a historical significance. Ta Na Ree Ree were two unsung singing sisters who belonged to the Moghul Era. The Moghul Era by itself was the golden era of art, architecture & music. Some of the finest ragas were not only performed but also produced during this period. Ta Na Ree Ree were immortalized because of their supreme sacrifice for the sake of classical music - they had laid down their lives for the survival of this art.
In tune with this historical background, the world famous singing sisters of our times - PREETI & PINKY will host this show. Besides several Hindi film hits, for e.g. “Piya O’ Piya Piya” Preeti - Pinky have several international concerts to their credit.
Aimed at taping the Gujarati talents, the show has three rounds in total. The judge for the day will judge the competitors on two qualifying aspects - basic talent/art and ability to perform. The third round will be the ‘Judge’s Choice’ round where in the judge will assign a song/raga to the performer. Famous names from the music & gujarati art world will be judging the competition - for e.g. Purshottam Upadhyay, Kshemu Divetiya, Himesh Reshamiya, Nirupamaben Sheth, Trupti Chhaya, Kshemu Diveitya.
This show is expected to travel several cities of Gujarat like Baroda, Ahmedabad, Rajkot where the preliminary rounds will be conducted. The winners adjudged after the Semi-Final & Final rounds will be felicitated as GURJARI SUR SAMRAT (male) & GURJARI SUR SAMRAGINI (female).

GURJARI NE TEER
A compilation of traditional folk music and dance, songs, this show is hosted by a typical rural Bharwadan (Shepherdess) wearing ethnic dresses in an ethnic backdrop. The flavour of the rural backdrop portrayed here is enhanced by the kathyawadi Gujarati of the anchor, which has a heavy rural accent. Luring the viewers to sing (if not dance) with her, our Bharwadan here is all set to stir the sentiments of gujarati bhai / bens across generations.

Agritty middle-aged woman is the central character of this serial. Fondly called as Jasuben Jasoos, she has taken upon herself to solve the problems of one & all who approach her. Jasuben dawns new roles, dresses up in disguise & enters in to the family that has pathology. For e.g., there is case of a girl entrapped into a socially unacceptable relationship. Jasuben puts her detective skills into use & goes & identifies the family of this married man. She brings the wife & the girlfriend face to face & makes them ralize the true identity of the man in their lives. Though not a detective in the conventional sense of the term, Jasuben manages to unearth the roots of the different kinds of problems / social issues encountered by her. The social message & awareness is thus dished out in an interesting way to the viewers in general.

PARIJAT
Written by the eminent writer Shri Prabodh Joshi, Parijat centers on Sarita, the only child of Sheth Gokuldas - a multimillionaire businessman. Sarita falls in love with Sagar, a barrister by profession. Their love culminates in a marriage.
Sagar had a fling in the past with Sudha who has a cousin called Daman. However Daman is a crooked fellow, a villain bent upon destroying the happy married life of Sagar and Sarita. Meanwhile Sarita delivers a baby boy named Shyam. Daman gets hold of the letters written by Sagar to Sudha. Since Sudha’s husband has filed a case against Daman whose lawyer is Sagar, he connives to get even with Sagar. Daman decides to blackmail Sagar but accidentally Sarita picks up the phone. She is ready to pay money to save her husband’s prestige. Sagar sees Sarita coming out of Daman’s house & he goes in to inquire. Daman poisons him about Sarita’s character. Sagar throws her out with their only son Shyam. Sarita starts for her village on foot & encounters three goondas on the highway who try to rape her. She is saved in the nick of time but somehow loses trace of her son. Shyam is picked up by a childless couple that latter leave India to seek a fortune in a foreign country. A good -natured doctor treats Sarita who has lost her mental balance after the shock. Dr.Lal recommends her for a job as a governess to the daughter of a police Inspector. Thus Sarita takes care of the motherless daughter. Years pass by & Shyam is to return to India with his airport to receive them As fate would have, the plane in which Shyam is traveling crashes before landing. The foster parents die in it but fortunately Shyam comes out unhurt. The smile is back on Sarita’s face. The mother is finally united with her long-lost son.
